Identifying Natural Silver: Appearance and Simple Tests

Question
I have found a small box of rocks from my parents house who have passed and am curious if they are silver. I was wondering what silver looks like when its mined and also if they is a test that I could perform t0 determine if they're silver? I know they are not pyrite.

Answer
It is dark dull grey and looks almost like a trail of gunpowder in a vien and is usually found in quartz. It looks absolutely nothing like pyrite which people confused for gold, not silver, even though it does form in one variety with a silver tone. .
