What Does 'CTG' Mean in Tanzanite Ring Carat Weight? - A Jewelry Expert's Explanation
QuestionI recently bought a tanzanite ring that says the stone size is 5.2ctg. What does ctg mean? Does it mean that the stone is not natural?
AnswerI have to guess that they meant just CT for the carat weight. I looked it up and found ctg used on a tanzanite ring listed on ebay. In one part of the item listing they used just ct for carat and in another part they had ctg. I'd have to attribute this to a poor grasp of the English language on the part of the seller.
By the way, 1 carat is 1/5 of a gram.
Good luck!
