Cabochon Ruby & Diamond Ring: Polishing & Gold Setting - Expert Advice

Question
I recently bought a cabochon ruby and diamond ring. It is translucent, has the cats eye effect and is truly a beautiful stone. It has some small surface scratches that do not detract from the the shiny wet look, but I was wondering if it can be re polished to remove the scratches.  It was sold as "pigeon blood red" but it is not set in yellow gold. I was wondering if polishing and resetting the stone in yellow gold is something worth doing.

Thank you for your time,

Lisa Bucalo

Answer
Hi,

Yes it can be re-polished. Send me an email if you want me to do it for you.  As far as the yellow gold that would be a matter what you like best.  Personally I will always choose yellow gold 18k or better.
