Identifying a Vintage 14K Gold Ring with Diamonds and Sapphires - Hallmark Decoding
QuestionHi! A few years ago my grandmother gave me a ring that is real 14K gold, it has a diamond in the middle surrounded by blue sapphires. She got the ring from her mother, who I've heard bought a lot of jewelry, but also brought a lot from Poland. I'd asked my grandmother all the time if she knew where it had come from but she had dementia and could never remember. She died in October and I'm determined to figure out what the hallmark inside means. On the inner band there is an A, a star, and then 14K. The star isn't sunken in, and I've asked a couple jewelers before at the mall and no one has ever been able to tell me anything. I'm really hoping it came from Poland, so do you anything about the "A star"?
AnswerHi Colby,
You can look the manufacturers stamp up on the internet. If it is made in Poland then research the "makers marks" of the Polish registry. It could be from another country also. Check European makers. There are literally 1000's of marks so it might take some searching. Thanks
