QuestionHey Thomas,
I bought a rose gold plated watch and it's really nice but after a few wears it fades. So I was wondering if there was a home kit to touch it up instead of sending it back to the company over and over to get replated. It's costing me a fortune!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
AnswerChristina,
I know of no home plating kits and even if offered a "safe" kit would not provide a thickness of plated surface to do much good. I believe what you need is a professionally applied and THICK electroplate. I do not know where or how the plating is being done now but it should not wear off in a noticeable way from a short period of wear.
You need a dedicated professional company who will provide a thicker than normal plate surface. (They have the means to know how thick the plate actually is.) This should last a fairly long time without a need to redo and be more cost effective than the constant re-do. I will recommend two companies to contact:
An excellent company. Will they do a single piece? You will need to e-mail them.

I have not used this company but it looks good.

The equipment and often quite toxic chemicals used to provide a good electroplate job are simply beyond home capability.
Please let me know how it works out for you. I do love the soft look of rose gold.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
