Turquoise Melting Point & Firing Considerations for Ceramics
QuestionThe question that T asked caught my eye while doing some research. The melting point of turquoise is of interest to me. I am taking a ceramics glass in college and I asked if I could decorate with turquoise before firing. I am needing the melting point or what reaction the stones with have before I am allowed to put them in the schools kilns.
Thanks

AnswerHi...I am not sure the cracking point (stone will not melt)..
best way is try on cab....if it does not work try inserting glass or
high temp fiber..and make it size of what you want..it could leave a form in the
ceramic and after place the tourquise ther..another way is to drill hole out after with a diamond
drill bit...than glue in your tourquoise..
hope this helps..
