QUESTION: We are selling to the public. Our collection consist of sterling silver and fashionable jewelry for women, for men we have tungsten, stainless steel and sterling silver. We also have a website in the works that will work as a store front, so we will be selling on the internet as well. We have plans of recruiting Independent consultants to sale our product during home jewelry shows. Any marketing advise will be well welcomed along side of any other advise.

ANSWER: Hi Ron,
Price point and trend is very important to your success. The internet can be excellent for you as long as you tie in existing customers re-ordering with email communication for new things. Make sure you have a good repairer in each area to suggest to the customers should they need to use them or depending on your return policy. Avoid being a bank for the home party participant, this is what kills suppliers doing this. Your key to success is the rep for each area and how you structure their inventory responsibility. Make sure you have a strong incentive plan for them on sales or else they get bored easy and problems occur with getting your product back. Its all about the parlay system with home parties. Regional retail jewelry shows work good here too .Catalogs, postcards etc. Also the other big thing is funding-have a lot of it, and make your quality first rate for the price points you desire to show. Good luck.

QUESTION: Thank you for your advise. I'm looking into a semi precious stone Larimar but I can't find many vendors or manufactures of the stone is there any particular reason? What's your feeling on Diamond simulant gemstones ( lab created diamonds)

Answer
If your considering Diamond simulant for your line the best one to market is CZ, its cheap, pretty, and easily replaceable, especially for silver and fashion jewelry. White sapphire works good too but doesn't have the scintillation. Moissanite is great but expensive and of course lab grow diamond from Gemisis in Florida is very high.  Call the AGTA, American Gem Trade Assn for vendors of what you are looking for in in semi-precious. Have fun.
