Authenticity of Bell Trading Post Turquoise & Copper Jewelry - Expert Inquiry
QuestionHi,
I would like to find out if Bell Trading Post company (founded in 1932 in Albuquerque, NM) made copper necklace and bracelet with Genuine rather than faux turquoise? I am considering to buy a necklace and bracelet which looks like a flower with 6 copper petals and one turquoise looking stone in the middle and 6 smaller same looking stones in between the copper petals. The owner claims the stones are genuine but other sellers who have the same jewelry claim they are faux.
Could you please tell me if it's genuine or faux. I am not sure if this would be your field of expertise and I appologize if it isn't. If it isn't could you please direct me in the right direction?
I appreciate it so much! I would need an aswer from an expert to be able to prove it to the seller.
Thanks!
Konul
Thanks so much!
AnswerHi Konul,
I am not sure about Bell Trading Post's tradition of using genuine stones or imitations. The only way I would say either way is to examine the stones personally. The stones could be changed or added at anytime, so they would need to be tested. An easier way is to ask the seller to have the stones authenticated by a gemologist or by a gem lab like GIA. Or if they won't do that then they should give you a written money back gaurantee if the stones prove to be imitations or other than genuine and untreated. They should also agree to repay you for costs of the I.D. if they are not genuine, good luck.
