Identifying Your White Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring: Maker Mark & Hallmarks

Question
hi there,i was wondering if you could help? my partner has just bought me a lovely ring and im doing a little research on it, its a lovely white gold ring with a diamond, the marks inside say RP (the R on top of the P within a kind of  hexagon shape)then the gold mark of 750 (a rougher stamp in 2 circles attached to each other) then a clear mark of 750 then the sheffield symbol of the flower, i was wondering if the first mark would be the makers mark or means that its plated?

Answer
Dear Rebecca,

I would want the ring in my hands for testing to be absolutely certain but I do believe the markings are in line with the hallmarking standards used in assay offices of the UK.  The RP in my thinking is the maker's mark (sponsor mark).  I believe the clear 750 and the Sheffield office mark tell the story, that the ring is 18k and the assay was performed at the Sheffield assay office.

The link below is likely something you have already found in research. If not, please compare the marking method of your ring with the hallmarks shown at the link below.

Thanks for the question. God Bless and Peace.
