Understanding 18k GL: Gold Identification & Jewelry Value

Hi Steven, I recentley came across some old jewelery that had belonged to my mother. A ring i found had a 18k gl mark on the inside. this is a two tone ring, on the front is gold with (white gold?) overlapping with seven diamonds. Some of the diamonds have a yellow color to them. I am not sure if this ring is gold plated or not.

Steve Hello Didi, I haven't seen this GL mark in rings or jewelry. it might be an obliterated GF for gold filled, but if the stones are genuine diamonds i doubt if the ring is gold filled or of a base metal variety. Your best bet is to take it to a good jeweler in town and have it tested to get a true value, either for insurance purposes or should you ever want to dispose of the item. good luck, i hope I helped.
