Platinum Diamond Ring Sizing: Can Costco Resize?
Question
ring
Hi Thomas. I am considering buying a platinum diamond ring at costco.com. The ring has a center stone with small stones spanning about 1/3 to 1/2 back on each side. Like almost all of the rings on costco.com, the ring is size 7. My size is 5 1/4. The product description for the ring reads "Sizeable within 1 size (Costco does not provide this service)". I've attached a picture. Do you think I would be able to get this sized down to 5 1//4 without a problem? Thanks for any advice you can provide.
AnswerMy Internet connection died last night and I am not able to answer properly on this very temp borrowed connection. I ask you to please ask again after this coming Saturday,September 1, 2012, with a follow up if needed. I apologize. This has not happened before. Please understand.
The quick answer: I believe 2 sizes down (1 3/4 sizes) will be too much for this ring unless it is made slightly oval and you have some assurances from the ones responsible for the sizing. Honestly, it might work quite well considering the stones do not go too far down the sides but you mist be assured the stones will be tightened if any loosen in the process since the ring "circle" becomes smaller, slightly pulling prongs away from the gems. If Costco is responsible, that is one situation. If you purchase it the have to go elsewhere for sizing, you are the responsible party with no recourse to Costco. Can you buy it with a guarantee to be able to return if a jeweler tells you they will not or would rather not be responsible for the ring in the future? You need these assurances before putting down your money.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
