What are some consquences of secrecy- depends on the secret. If its that you have huge debt and you didn't tell you partner and you then want to purchase a home and suddenly can't becuase of your hidden debt- this can be pretty serious and could cause a real breakdown in trust.
How many relationships are ended due to secrecy/ lack of communication- while there is no number out there that I can give- think about those around whose realtionships have ended and why- many are due lack of communication (This is the number one area all couples surveyed say that they want to improve in their marriage).
