Postpartum Period Irregularities: What to Expect After a C-Section
QuestionI am 24, have three children and the first day of my last period was April 6th.
I had my first vaginaly child a year ago and had one period that lasted about 6 days and then got pregnant again with twins. I just had my twins February 18th by c-section and bled after for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor gave me orto-tri cyclen and I was to start on the first day of my period which was April 6th. I am still having my period 20 days later. My question is, is this normal? Thank you
AnswerIt is abnormal to bleed for longer than 14 days at a time. If you started a period on April 6 and are still bleeding (whether or not you are taking the pills) I would suggest that you contact your doctor and be checked to see if you have any retained placental tissue (causing you to bleed) or some hormonal imbalance. Perhaps you need a stronger birth control pill to stop the bleeding.
