Postpartum Recovery After C-Section: Returning to Your Pre-Pregnancy Body

Question
My daughter is having a c section because she is expecting triplets that had TTTS which has in effect gotten better she is 35 weeks my question is how does your body know to go back into the orginal shape like bones and etc if you don't go thru normal labor?

Answer
Hello Judy. Once the babies and placentas have been removed, the normal hormones of pregnancy are no longer circulating in her body. This allows her joints and ligaments to return to their non-pregnant state. Since I have your attention, please do whatever you can to encourage her to breastfeed these babies as much as possible. It is actually possible to totally breastfeed triplets if the mother has enough support phycically and emotionally. Please contact La Leche League in her area- they are the TRUE experts about breastfeeding and will be of  immense help to her. All the best- Cheri.
