Faint Positive Pregnancy Test After Tubal Ligation: What To Do?

Hi Amy,
I had my tubes tied in feb 03, I am absolutely clockwork with my period and was supposed to start 5 days ago. I took an OTC pregnancy test and it was a faint positive. I know that you can get a false neg but not a false positive, my question is... how soon should I make an appt to see my midwife? I know there is a good chance if I am in fact pregnant, it could be in one of my tubes and I dont want it to rupture and threaten my life.

Hi Janet,

I would make and appointment as soon as possible so you can have an ultrasound to see what is going on.  Sometimes, you can still conceive a normal pregnancy after a tubal, however, you are at higher risk for ectopic pregnancy.  So, get checked out asap! Good luck!
