Last period - April 9, 2004
Hi. I took Depro Provera for about 18 months. It made me bleed a lot, so I switched to the pill. I stopped taking the pill in May 2003. I did not get a period from May - November. When I did get my period, it lasted from 11/4/03 - 12/10/03. I did not get another period until 1/1/04 which lasted until 1/29/04.
I saw my gynecologist on March 1. He prescribed Provera, which I took on March 29. I got a period from 4/9/04 - 4/26/04. From 4/26/04 - 4/28/04, there was slight bleeding (light pink / spotting).
Since 4/30/04, I have been nauseous, emotional, vomitting and tired - everyday! I took a pregnancy test at home on 5/8/04, and it came out negative. Maybe I took the pregnancy test too early to detect HCG. My doctor is going to have blood tests done to check my hormones and he wants to put me on fertility pills since I am trying to conceive. But he wants to wait until I get another period. I'm not sure when I should expect another period since it has been irregular since last year. Any suggestions? Could I still be pregnant? Something is causing me to feel sick.
AnswerIf you took Provera on March 29 and got your period on April 9, you were not pregnant then. (Provera used to be used as a pregnancy test. If a woman took Provera and got her period, she was not pregnant). If you did get your p9eriod on April 9, then the earliest that you could have ovulated would have been on April 22. If you did, indeed become pregnant around then, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later, or between May 6-13. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your period (or 21 days after ovulation). That would be on May 13. If a pregnancy test on May 13 is negative, you are not pregnant.
