Understanding Period Changes & Potential Pregnancy Signs
QuestionHi am 20 yrs old and I just started my period. I was wondering if you are pregnant is it possible to have a period. And what I mean is would you bleed for five days, have strong cramps, back pain, breast hurt, and a lot of bleeding. I ask this because am bleeding but not the same its still red but not the same is that normal? If you need any other information just let me know
AnswerHi Jess,
Many women report having their period while pregnant, but typically this is not the case. The reason why this cannot be is that pregnancy and menstruation cannot take place at the same time. If you were pregnant and you began menstruating you would inevitably lose the pregnancy, or have a miscarriage. While you cannot have your period and continue to be pregnant at the same time you can experience vaginal bleeding and continue to be pregnant. It is often this vaginal bleeding that women believe is their menstrual cycle when it is not.
Take a pregnancy test, if you're pregnant then I believe you may be having a miscarriage. If you're not then I believe this is just your period and you may have a hormonal imbalance which would explain why it is not a normal period.
