QuestionHi..I am assuming you can answer my question because you have an MD and my question could probably be answered by all doctors maybe nurses...
I am 17 years old, and have been taking birth control pills for about 5 months. They say they regulate your period, and every month I get my period. However, this month I have not gotten my period at all just a light amount of brown fluid for a few days, but it doesn't compare to blood at all and isn't messy, and doesn't happen during the night it seems..
Because I haven't gotten my period during the 7 days where I was supposed to, and am sexually active often, could I possibly be pregnant?
Hope you can help, thanks.
PS: I am only sexually active with one man, and we were both virgins when we first had sex, so there is no chance of an STD.
AnswerIf you are taking birth control pills and have not missed any, it is highly unlikely that you have become pregnant. However, any time a woman misses her period for more than 7 days, it is prudent to take a home pregnancy test to make sure that you have not inadvertently become pregnant. If the test is negative at this point, you are definitely not pregnant. Sometimes, the character of your menses may be brownish in color and more of the consistency of a discharge than blood. This still may have been your period. If the pregnancy test is negative, just continue the pills and forget about it.
