QuestionHi, I am 32 and had a baby 2 months ago. No period yet. I am not breastfeeding. How do you feel about generic birth control pills? Are they REALLY as effective as brand name pills? My OB prescribed Desogen and the pharmacy gave me generics. Should I trust these? I do not want any more children but my husband has not gotten "fixed" yet!

AnswerI, personally, prefer brand name birth control pills. HOwever, many insurance companies will not pay for the brand names anymore. The generic pills are the exact same thing as the brand, however, there is no company that you can hold responsible if there are any side effects related to the pills. That is why I always prescribe brand name medications.
