Switching to Generic Birth Control: Experiences with Estrostep & Alternatives

Question
My new health insurance only covers generic pills. I am on Estrostep and am jumping for joy to get off it. I get seriously dizzy 3 days before my period and sometimes it getsreal bad where I have moments of memory loss. It gets scary. I was on Ortho tr cyclene before and was very happy with that, however I have seen bad reviews about the generics for ortho tri cyclene. I am telling you my experiences w/ the other bc pills because maybe there is a reason why one was better than the other and you can tell from that what to recommend. My question is, what generic bc pill won't cause weight gain, is reliable, and won't cause dizzy spells, and is excellent for cystic acne?

Answer
Hi Hollie :)

So sorry to hear about your  headaches that have came with your pills.

But I do have good news ::)

Allesse, is a pill on the market now that has minimal sideeffects. Now the generic version of Allesse, is called Aviane.

I have read up on both these pills, and overall they get great reviews.

Now, there is no escaping the possiblity of weight gain, that is a side effect of every hormonal birthcontrol that is taken. But with Aviane, the risks are a little lower. Infact, Aviane, is one of the lowest dosed birthcontrol pills on the market today, and its 99.9% effective against pregnancy.

It also helps with facial acne, and apparently gives mininum water retention as well.

Every birthcontrol comes with risks, risks such as heart attack and stroke, which is more prominate in smokers over the age of 35, and moodswings.

With Allesse/Aviane the sideeffects are minimal.

Hope this is of some help, and thanks for writing!
