Birth Control Pill Start Date: What to Do If You Missed Your First Day of Bleeding

Question
I have just been prescribed the Norman 28 Day Pill by a doctor for medical reasons. When the doctor asked if I was sexually active I said no (My mum was in the room and I was too nervous to say). However, I have been sexually active for a little less than a year. My period is just finishing but the doctor said to start taking the pill today so I will, but I know that you are meant to start taking these pills on your first day of 'bleeding'. So will this effect the pills in terms of contraceptive effectiveness? How long will it be before I can be sexually active with my partner and have these pills working well enough to prevent pregnancy? (To whatever percentage specified).

Answer
I am sorry for the delay in this answer. What has been happening since you posted your question? I don't recommend the birth control pills because of side effects and risks to your health. Also, whenever you have sex, even if you take birth control pills or use any kind of birth control method, you can still get pregnant. No birth control method is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. So I would not advise you to have sex until you are married and know that you could have a child anytime. Let me know what you think.
Email me at CHERYL51@aol.com. Oh, I just noticed that your doctor prescribed the pill for medical reasons. Can you tell me more about that?

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
