I am around 10-11 weeks pregnant and I just noticed some discharge in my panties and a little when I wiped. The d/c is more of a brownish color, not red. How concerned should I be right now? I am taking Methlodopa for HTN.
Answer -
Hello Barbara- some brownish discharge is not of great concern. If it were to be bright red and accompanied by cramps, that would be worrisome. Do you have chronic high blood pressure? Tell me more about your medical condition and what do you mean by HTN? Get back to me- Cheri.
Yes, I was diagnosed w/chronic hypertension. I haven't noticed any of the d/c since yesterday. Before I became pregnant, my bp fluctuated. I lost weight and it was normal, but as soon as I became pregnant, it went up to 148/98. I was told I had a UTI and had to take Macrobid for 5 days. Also, I had a kidney biopsy about 7 years ago b/c I was spilling protein in my urine. And I am still spilling protein in my urine, so I had to do a 24/hr urine in a big ole jug. I will get the results on the 15th of July. Thank you for responding earlier.
AnswerHello again. I would urge you to seek the care of a midwife as well as your dr. Your BP could be partly controlled with a change in your diet- specifically LOTS of protein, NO sugar, NO flour and only 3 pieces of fruit a day. Your dr. knows very little if anything about this type of treatment but most midwives are aware of it. The control of your BP is VITAL to the survival of your baby- high BP can cause the placenta to detach from the wall of the uterus and your pregnancy could end. Hope that helps- Cheri.
