Question21, no children and the first day of my last day menstrual cycle was March 21st. I have had a strange discharge with lots of mucus and white clumps (?) for the past eight months. During midcycle, the discharge is a milky white. I have gone to the campus health center with my concerns, but they insist that I do not have a yeast infection. I was also tested for STIs, but the tests have all been negative. I don't know why my vaginal discharge would change from its normal clear minimal amount to this unless there was something wrong. Is there any way to make it go back the way that it was? My last boyfriend accused me of having an STD because of this.
AnswerIf cultures have been taken of this discharge, and there is no evidence of yeast (white, cheezy discharge), bacteria (green or yellow discharge, with a foul and intense itching)), or trichomonal infection (gray, frothy dischrge, with even more itching), it is unlkely tht you have an infection. Many women have copious amounts of leukorrhea (clear or white, mucus secretions from the vagina). These are normal and can vary throughout your life. Usually a yeast infection looks like cottage cheese, but if your doctors have ruled it out, I would not worry.Your boyfriend is worried, but cannot diagnose STDs without a culture.
