QuestionThere is no burning at all. Should I still be concerned? I will get my doctor to refer me to a urologist too.

Question -
When I urinate these days, the urine doesnt stream out in one smooth flow. It comes out like a very heavy trickle (like a bad rainstorm). Does this sound like anything I should be concerned about?
Answer -
If you have irregular urination, you should see a urologist. If you have frequency, burning on urination, or urgency (the feeling of having to urinate but not much comes out) it may be the beginning of a urinary tract infection. A trickle of the type you describe may indicate some blockage in your urethra, if the urine does not come out in a smooth flow. If it continues, I would suggest a consult with a urologist.
AnswerIt could not hurt to have a "urine culture and sensitivity" done on a sterile sample of your urine. If the culture is negative (less than 100,000 bacteria), then you do not have a UTI. The urologist will investigate why your stream of urine is not flowing smoothly.
