QuestionI have a few questions that are all part of a big picture. I'm 5'8", 220lbs. With my first child, I was 155lbs and gained 50lbs. I quit smoking which also put 30 lbs on. I've lost 10 lbs since. My husband is concerned about my weight and doesn't want me to get pregnant again until I get down to close to my original weight. Is there a valid concern for this? I know getting larger isn't good, but I think there's a chance that after having another baby, I might be able to lose the weight easier as I will not have to go through the quitting smoking, and I'll be breast feeding.
Also, I went off the pill in August of 2003. I had a period then, and then one 3 months later. I have not had one since. I've been to see my GP and nothing out of the ordinary showed up in any tests. This concerns me a bit as I'm getting older (although I understand 30 isn't THAT old). I did go without having a period for almost 2 years before having my first child, as I've been irregular and had to use the pill to regulate myself.
Any information, answers, opinions would mean a great deal to me!
Thanks so much for your time!
Answer Your husband has valid concerns. The bigger you are the more of a risk of diabetes and other complications.
You should make an appt. and have a physical before trying for another baby.
You can address the other concerns at that time also.
Good luck to you.
