Vaginal Discharge in Early Pregnancy: Causes & What to Expect

hi doc,
i'm 38 years old. I have one 13 yr old son. my lmp was 7/3/04.  question--since last week i've had a discharge. my doc found yeast prescribed terzocole(sp?) still a creamy light beige dischage once with pink "highlights" am very nervous and anxious. thanks for your time kl

The cream is good for yeast infections and will do no harm to the pregnancy or to the baby. You are now around 5-6 weeks gestational abe and it is common to have some pink discharge from time to time. It is also common to have some brownish discharge ("old blood"). Don't worry about it. In another week or two you can get a sonogram which will show a fetus and a fetal heartbeat. If you take a sonogram now, you will not see a fetus or a fetal heartbeat. Just relax and don't worry.
