QuestionI am 28 years old. I have one child. I've been pregnant 3 times... the first one ended in a miscarriage at 19 weeks, the next one was my dau. (now 2 1/2 yrs old), the 3rd pregnancy was about a year ago, ending in a miscarriage at about 6 wks. I have a few questions:
1. Does every women ovulate with every cycle? I got pg the first "try" with my 2 misses, but with my dau, we had unprotected sex for a few months before it happened. And now we've been going unprotected for a few months and sometimes, I'm quite SURE it was over the "dangerous" time.
2. My husband sits on the couch with a laptop nearly every evening. Could the heat have any effect on the potency of the sperm?
Thank-you for your time!
AnswerUsually, if you get your period, you ovulated. If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. YOu can only become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16 each month. If you do not ovulate , you usually will not get your period. Unless you have intercourse on the days I mentioned above, you will not conceive. However, even if you do have sex on those days, it is possible to fail to conceive. The heat of a computer will not cause any harm to spermiogenesis. If you have any doubts at to the efficacy of your husband's sperm, have him go for a semenanalysis and you will know for sure. We usually do not start a fertility workup until you have unsuccessfully been trying to conceive for a full 12 months (only 12 days of ovulation). Good luck.
