Pregnancy Symptoms After Miscarriage & Pap Test Pain

Question
I am trying for my first child. My husband and I had a miscarriage in February at 8 weeks.  I am having symptoms of pregnancy, especially tightness and discomfort in the abdomen and evening sickness (same as my first pregnancy). I am not far along enough for a missed period though. I recently went for my annual pap test, knowing that there is a good posibility I am pregnant again. The nurse did not detect a pregnancy...however, my test was so much more painful than ever before. Is it possible that I am pregnant? If so, should I have not had the pap test done?

Answer
A PAP smear will not have any effect on a pregnancy. It  does not cause any bleeding or pose any risks.  When was the first day of your last period? If you have a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period to the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can only become pregnant if you have sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. If you do, indeed, become p9regnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test will not show a positive ressult until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. There is no other way to tell, even if you have the early symptoms of pregnancy (nausea, fatigue, or breast tenderness).
