Brown Discharge After Period: Causes & When to Worry
QuestionHi ,I am 23 years , a student in university. I always fell pain during my monthly period and need to take some medicine to control my pain. Then after about one week , it should free of any 'period particles' but i found that I still have some chocolate colour in about 2 to three weeks .Sometimes even untill the next period. Is it serious?
AnswerA brownish discharge after your period often is due to "old blood" that is still coming out of your uterus. It can continue for a few weeks. HOwever, if this occurs each month, you should consult a gynecologist to make sure that it is not due to any infection or hormonal irregularity. For pain (dysmenorrhea) during your period, you can take Motrin or Advil (500 mg every 6 hours) starting just before your period begins.
