QuestionGood morning. At my last OB appt. last Tuesday, the Doc did an internal, and found that the baby had dropped (beyond the cervix, she could feel the baby's head), and I was 1 cent. dilated and 30% effaced. My due date is January 8, I've been having sharp pains in the cervix/vagina area, and feeling contractions on and off. Also, lots of pressure. This is our first baby.
Do you think that I will deliver early if the process of labor has already started? Also, do you need to loose your mucus plug before you start labor, and do you always know when you loose your mucus plug?
Answer HELLO! This is very exciting indeed! A first time mom can labor a long time, and be in pre-labor (as you are) even longer. You may carry clear to your due date even with these symptoms.
Some women lose their mucus plug weeks before delivery some don't lose it until they are in labor.
If you lose it at home before labor you probably would notice, it is just like it sounds, a bunch of mucus you will see it in the toilet or on the tissue.
Good luck and Congrats!
