Possible Pregnancy After C-Section: Understanding Symptoms & Next Steps
QuestionI just had my second c-section on 7/5/2008 and I think I might be pregnant again. I got my last period on well it's kind of confusing because on September 12 it came down really light than on September 15 it came down heavy and lasted 5 days after that. And til this day I still haven't gotten my period. I've had the cramps but nothing. I took a pregnancy test on Oct. 16 and it came out negative. I'm really nervous and confused because i don't know what to do. I spoke to my ob/gyn and he tells me that it is really risky for me to have a baby so soon after my 2nd c-section. I asked if i should have an abortion and he didn't say yes or no but it looked like he was going for the yes. My husband thinks that i should have the abortion for my safety. He says that I should think about our two daughters because god forbid something happens to me if I keep the baby but he still leaves me with the option. I want to keep the baby but I don't want to put our lives at risk. What should I do??
AnswerFrances,
You did say the test came out negative, right? Why are you making such tough decisions if you aren't pregnant? Are you still breastfeeding? If you are, you may or may not get your period. It might have just been some left over bleeding from having your baby. It's a reach, but it's possible. As long as the tests are coming back negative, you shouldn't worry. If you are in fact pregnant, you have to do what's right for you. I think you should talk yo your doctor and ask if he thinks it's safe for you to carry this baby even though you just had one. If he thinks it dangerous, but possible, you really should think about that. If there is no question that he doesn't think you could carry a baby, than there is not much to discuss. Nobody can tell you what to do. You have to do what is right for you. Good luck!!
