Can You Get Pregnant After a C-Section? Recovery Timeline & FAQs

Question
Hi, I had a classical c-section, and the doctor that delivered said to wait 18 months to try again, but one of the other docs involved in my care said 6 months. I have seen many women say that their docs said 3 to 6 months. I can't imagine that it will take my body 18 months to recover enough to get pregnant, so is it physically ok to get pregnant 3 to 6 months after a c-section? ( For the record I have a history of healing very well and very quickly), and after this loss, I really don't want to wait when I feel fine. Thanks

Answer
The recommendation is usually 18 months between deliveries, although some doctors prefer a little more time.  Many women have deliveries as soon as 13 months after a c-section, and even VBAC with those close intervals with no problem.  It really depends on your care provider's level of comfort; the actual hard data is minimal at best.
