Understanding Uterine Measurements in Pregnancy: What to Expect

Question
Age: 26,  First pregnancy, April 21st was the first day of last period.  I am in my 28th week of pregnancy.  During my last appointment, my doctor measured my belly.  I measured between 32 and 33cm.  My doctor is now sending me for another ultrasound because of this.  What are some reasons that this my occur?

Answer
If you measured larger than your dates, you may have a larger baby, you may have more amniotic fluid than you should, or you may be merely be carrying higher than expected. A sonogram will evaluate adequate growth better than a manual measurement at the doctor's office.
