Postpartum Period: How Long After C-Section Will My Period Return?

I am 25 years old and had my first child on February 28th by c-section. I was wondering how long it takes after that kind of surgery to get my menstrual cycle. My Gyn doctor gave me birth control to start taking when it starts but, I still haven't. How long could I expect to wait?

After a delivery (cesarean section or vaginal) your first period will usually start 6-8 weeks later.If you do not get your period within another month, call your doctor and have your period induced for you using Provera 10mg twice a day for five days and you should get your period within 10 days. Then start the birth control pills on the Sunday following the first day of bleeding.
