Early Labor Concerns: Understanding Contractions & Fetal Growth at 35 Weeks

Question
i am 35 weeks but think my dates may be wrong. i keep getting contractions and the doctors say that my baby is growing bigger than it should be, i have been checked for diabetes and it is neg,i am told that the ultrsound is right for dates and that it wont be changed is this true? as my first child was long overdue and nearly died due to wrong scan dates.

Answer
Hello Sam- you must know that contractions are quite normal at this stage of pregnancy and second babies are often larger than first ones. Are your dates accurate according to your period dates? I have very little faith in u/scans- they are rarely accurate for dates I have found. However, they can be useful at the end of pregnancy to determine placental health.I would encourage you to be patient about delivery date and let your baby, your body and mother nature decide when the time is right. All the best- Cheri.
