2.  The levels every 48 hrs. - 20-65-159 what do yo think of them - good, still too low?  or fine and since they are almost tripling every 48 hrs could it be a mulitple?- what do multiple levels usually look like?

Hi!
I will be 35 next year -have a 6 year old daughter-had an ectopic(lost left tube) 3 years ago - have been through 3 IFV fresh cycles over the past year and a half.  On May 13 tranferred 4 frozen embryos -pregnancy test on day 11 post transfer was positive but low -20 then Wednesday it was 65 then today (Friday )159.  Progeterone and estrogen look good as well (althought I am taking oral meds and suppositories as well -
I took a store brand home preg tesat and it came back negative even though I have these betas - at night I feel a flutter on my right side - where my tube is - It is not painful - but I am freaking out that this might be an ectopic again - I know its hard to say - but what do you think about the way my levels have increased - maybe just last implntation?
Answer -
If you ovulated around May 13, the earliest that a home pregnancy test would show a positive result would be 14-21 days later (May 27-June 2). The best time to take a pregnancy test (either urine or Beta HCG) is seven days after you miss your period (or June 2). After that, the Beta HCG values should double every 48 hours. As long as you are not having vaginal bleeding or severe pain in your tube, I would not worry. It is too early for a sonogram to show anything yet, in any case. If the progesterone value is good, just be patient. The flutter may merely be gas in your intestines. It is too early for any flutter of any fetus yet, as well. Good Luck to you. Try not to worry.

Answer
As I said before, I would not start taking HCG levels until you have missed your period. Before then, they are too low to be able to adequately evaluate. A rapid rise in HCG values does not indicate multiple gestations. The only way I diagnose multiple gestations is at the first sonogram when I see more than one fetus. Progesterone supplementation will not cause you to bleed nor will it prevent you from bleeding. However, you may maintain a good luteal phase if you have adequate progesterone levels.
