Can You Conceive the Night Before Your Period Starts? | Fertility & Cycle Info
QuestionHi there. My question is, how great do you think the chances of conceiving the night before one starts their period are? My husband and I have been trying for a third child, however after 18 months of unprotected sex I still am not pregnant. Since having our second child two years ago my periods have been rather unpredicatable(sometimes every 25 days, sometimes every 28, and then there are the 30 day cycles too!)I've tried ovulation predictor tests to no avail. I am hoping that we got lucky but am curious as to whether or not I even have a possibility of being pregnant this month. We had sex at night and early the next morning (about seven hours later) I got my period--which was as heavy as usual but two days shorter than normal (although it has done this before!). What do you think? Thanks much for your input!
AnswerHello Courtney- No- you will not conceive that close to your period. The egg is released a full 14 days BEFORE you have a period and will be nowhere around by the day before your period comes. I suggest you go to a website called the Billings Method and learn all about how to detect ovulation using your body signals. All the best- Cheri.
