Persistent Lower Left Side Pain During Pregnancy: Causes & Relief
QuestionI have been having pains in my lower left side since the moment of conception, with my first child. Drs pregnancy test came back faintly positive. I was admitted to hospital and kept in for 3 days in that time a scan was done and it was confirmed that I was very very early in pregnancy, they put the pain down to a cyst on my left ovary. I had pain in my left side all through the pregnancy I was unable to stand, sit or lie comfortably. I had my baby 3wks prem, 7lb 5oz,(out in 4 mins) and the pain in my side went away for about 8wks. The past 6months the pain in my left side has been there, stabbing pains in my front and back and generally very sore. 7 wks ago something popped as I sat down and I was paralysed in my left side, body and thigh. The Dr said I'd slipped a disc and prescribed Tramacet and Diazepam for 2wks. The pain is still there if u put pressure on my back left side above my bum its very tender and my left leg buckles. If you lie me down and press my belly (15cm diagonol from my belly button) I curl up in pain. I have been breastfeeding 8 month, I am sexually active and am not using contaception. Could you help me please by giving me some ideas as to what these pains might be. I dont want to be kept in hospital away from my baby as she is still dependant on me for milk and sleep. I'd like to be aware of the possibilities. Hope you can help. Thank you.
AnswerHI Sarah,
I would start pumping my milk and freezing it in preparation for possible hospitalization. I would defintely go in and get evaluated and treated properly. YOur baby will be fine and they can bring it to you for feedings and visiting. Let me know what they find out.
