Groin Pain During Pregnancy: Causes & Relief

Question
Hello, I'm 28 weeks pregnant and have been getting some groin pain on the left side but it seems to move to my very low part of my stomach and around my left hip and thigh my legs have been aching quite a lot due to a muscular problem but its making my left leg ache even more I just want to know if what I'm experiencing in my pregnancy is normal as its my first baby thankyou

Answer
Most commonly, lower abdominal pain on one side of the belly is due to stretching of the uterine ligaments. To relieve this pain, try a "hip hiker." Stand on your "good" side and lift the hip of your painful side straight upward. (Think of drawing the side seam of your pants as close to you armpit as you can.) Hold for about 30 seconds.

Achy legs, especially since it is mostly on one side, might mean something else is going on. You may have some pelvic instability, or alignment problem which is causing this type of pain.

Get a referral to a PT or Chiropractor who specializes in prenatal conditions to get an evaluation and proper treatment if necessary.
