Safe Ways to Delay Your Period: Options & Considerations

Question
I am 35, I have one child. I started my period yesterday (wich is a week early). I am getting married on March 19, 2005. I need to know if there is a safe way to delay my period? Am I too old for seasonale? Is there any other way?

Answer
You are not too old for any birth control pills, unless you smoke. I would avoid using Seasonale because it has reports of lots of breakthrough bleeding which would defeat your purpose. HOwever, you can get any other type of birth control pills and continue to take just the active pills (avoiding the ones from cycle day #22-28). Start a new pack immediately after you finish pill #21 and continue that way until you wish to get your period. Then merely stop taking the pills and you should start your period within a few days. It is safe.
