Lo Loestrin FE: Missing Periods After Switching? What to Expect

Question
After many years on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Tri-nessa, my NP switched me to Lo Loestrin FE (to try and see if my melasma would disappear.)  I've just finished my first pack of Lo Loestrin FE and I haven't started my period yet.  I'm not concerned about pregnancy, however is it normal to miss periods after switching pills?  I was a real regular girl on Tri-nessa.  I've been doing some online research tonight and have found a lot of women NEVER got a period while on Lo Loestrin.  I know plenty of women who cycle their pills so as to never get a period and it's not a huge deal, but should I call my doc considering it's such a change for me- or should I just talk to her at my follow up in August?

Thank you!

Answer
Amy, I would suggest calling your doctor now. I don't recommend doing the pills that way as it would be altering your natural cycle. I really don't even recommend taking the birth control pills or any kind of hormonal birth control method. I feel that it is unnatural for a woman. I wouldn't think that missing your period or it being delayed would be serious at this point. But I would have to say to contact your doctor just to make sure. Let me know what happens, if you don't mind. My private email address is CHERYL51@aol.com
