I have been trying to get pregnant. The 1st day of my last period was Jan. 11th. Today I started to bleed quite a bit but only for a very short time(the 12th day after.) I was wondering if it could be possible to miscarry this early?
Answer -
If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. If your last period started on January 11, then you are only at cycle day #14 today, and are about to ovulate. It is common to have some bleeding (less than a regular period) at the time of ovulation and you may also feel a slight cringe of pain on one side of your abdomen or the other. You cannot become pregnant unless you have sex after ovulation, so I doubt that you are pregnant yet, this month. You can conceive if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. You can miscarry any time after you become pregnant. However, I doubt that you have become pregnant yet.
Thanks for the prompt response. I would like to ask a followup. I did but did not get a receipt so I am trying again...
My cycle was only 25 days from last month to this month. This is why I assumed I may be ovulating earlier. My cycle has been varying since I have been off the pill. Is there a number day after the 1st day of your period when you know for sure you are ovulating? Or does it all depend on your cycle number? Also, so you agree that you can miscarry anytime after conception? Thanks Again
AnswerYes, you can miscarry any time after conception. The day of ovulation depends on the number of days in your cycle. Ovulation occurs 14 days prior to the first day of your next period. The difficulty is in figuring out when that will be. In a normal 28 day cycle ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. However, in a 30 day cycle, ovulation occurs on cycle day #16. If you have a 25 day cycle, ovulation occurs on cycle day #11. However, the cycle can change from month to month. If you purchase an ovulation predictor kit, you may be able to test for the LH surge. Ovulation occurs around 12 hours after the LH surge.
