QuestionMy name is Michelle. I am 30 and 14 weeks pg. My LMP was 11/15, however, I have long cycles.
I am renting a home doppler. It is professional quality, but I am still having trouble finding the hb. Last week I freaked out when I could not find it and was seen by my doc. They did an u/s and the baby was fine. Is this unusal at 14 weeks? Any pointers on how to find it. I do hear a lot of swishing and when I think I hear the heart beat, it goes away.
Is it safe to use the doppler daily?
AnswerBetween 14-20 weeks gestation, you should be able to hear the fetsl heartbeat with the doppler if you place it on the center of your abdomen midway between your pubic bone and your belly button (directly in the middle). After 20 weeks, you will start to hear the heartbeat slightly to the right of this midline and in the lower quadrant. (If the baby turns to the breech presentation, the heartbeat may be found above the belly button, but usually is it is in tne lower quadrant). You should start to feel fetal movement after 22 weeks gestation.
