Post-Unprotected Sex & Abortion: Understanding Irregular Periods & Ovarian Cysts

Question
hello there,
well, my story is very confusing, and i wish i can just get some peace of mind!

almost 7 weeks ago I had unprotected sex, were my boyfriend didn't come inside. All pregnancy results came in negative, i even did an ultrasound and my uterus was empty. However, before that I went through abortion and irresponsible use of emergency contraception after my abortion that caused a cyst (water-filled) on my right ovary!
I didn't get my period until now, and so my doctor gave me Primoult N, to help get my period. I have stopped taking it since Thursday and until today NO PERIOD, however, i did an ultrasound, and turned out that the cyst was gone!

So, no pregnancy, and no cyst!
on Friday, 23 December, before my supposed period in one day and before i start the Primoult N, there was some dry humping action with my bf, he had his boxers on and came while he was rubbing me, and then he took his boxers off rubbed my ass then came away (on the bed). I'm sorry for the details!!! BUT I CAN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT!

so what do you think? Is it a lot confusing???? WHAT IS GOING ON?!
my doctor tells me to wait, but could this dry humping got me pregnant?

thank you!

Answer
Hello, Jessica,

It sounds to me like basically your boyfriend is using you for self-gratification without worrying about what it is doing to you, either physically or emotionally. You deserve better than to live in fear of pregnancy. It also sounds like your doctor doesn't really want to bother to get to the bottom of your symptoms. Primoult N is just a band-aid, to alleviate symptoms. It doesn't sound like it will correct the underlying problem, but will just mask it, possibly. It is also dangerous. Please read these two links about this drug:

There is no sense in having a heart attack or a stroke, at your age, just so you can get your period.

Since the cyst was apparently filled with water, it may have burst and released the water, so in that case, it wouldn't be surprising if it was gone. Ultrasound isn't always accurate anyway. Did you experience any discomfort that might be explained by having a cyst?

It is relatively unlikely you would get pregnant from dry humping with clothes on. But what's the point, other than to make your boyfriend feel good at your expense? If any fluid got through the clothing, yes, it could cause pregnancy, though chances are remote. They're not zero. If at any time when he rubbed you, you got any fluid on your hands or anything else and then came close to your vagina, pregnancy is possible. But you also have to be fertile. You are probably unaware of how to tell if you are fertile or not.

The only way I can think of that you can have peace of mind is to stop all that foolishness. If you aren't running any risks and you know it, you will have peace of mind. You certainly should not be taking dangerous medications to prevent or end pregnancy, or bring on your period. You deserve your boyfriend's respect, for you and your body. I recommend you not go to a private place with him, where sex would be possible.

You can test for pregnancy three weeks after the incident, and if the test is negative, test again in a week. If that one is negative, too, then it is very unlikely you are pregnant.

Lack of periods can be caused by several different things besides pregnancy. One cause is stress. You are stressed out by your situation. Also, it can be caused by strenuous exercise on a regular basis, or a poor diet (such as a vegetarian diet). And obviously, if your hormones are out of whack, anything is possible. The cyst could be indicative of problems.

I recommend you stop taking all such medications. They will only confuse the situation for you. Find a doctor who is willing to run the necessary tests and do the examinations needed to find out why you're not having a period. If you are a vegetarian, see about getting some animal fat into your diet. This is needed to make the hormones necessary to cause the period. A woman's body may produce a period for awhile, but eventually the body becomes incapable of producing the necessary hormones. If you are exercising heavily (especially if you have developed a fair amount of muscle, or you are doing things like ballet and have small breasts), you can cut back on the exercise. You probably aren't fertile, either.

Please find a doctor who will give you the diagnosis you deserve. Please let me know what happens. I hope this helps.
