QuestionDear Dr. Rappaport,
I am 26, I have:
Lost baby 8 weeks
Healthy Daughter 18 months
Lost baby after large SCH 12 weeks
Lost baby after small SCH, slow heart, and poor growth 8 weeks
I was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden Hetero, and MTHFR, both genes. I don't know what my Homocystine levels are now. I am assuming fine, as I had a blood draw last week and haven't heard.
I am 6.5 weeks pregnant and have been on 30mg Lovenox 2x daily along with Foltx and Baby Aspirin.
I have been spotting (very faint) for the past week. Started Brown, and is now pink. I am nervous, as all the babies that I have lost started with bleeding or spotting with no cramps. I had no bleeding at all with My daughter.
Is Bleeding on Lovenox normal? More normal than a standard, non-high risk patient? I know bleeding can be "normal" I just want to know frequency with blood thinners. Basically, is it more common?
Thanks,
Erika
AnswerI have seen more bleeding on patients who take Lovenox or Heparin then those that are not taking blood thinners. However, whenever you have any heavy bleeding with cramps, you should have it evaluated with a sonogram. If the spotting is very light, and you do not have any cramps, it is most likely that there is no problem. However, with your history you should not wait too long if you are troubled with bleeding. A sonogram should confirm adequate growth and a fetal heartbeat.
