Ovarian Cysts & Pregnancy Tests: What You Need to Know
QuestionHi. I am 17 years old. I took a pregnancy test, and It said I was pregnant. I Took another a week later and Yeah, it said I was pregnant. I read on the instruction thing that Ovarian Cysts can Give misleading results. And I have ovarian cysts. So... Is there any way I could find out for sure if I am pregnant? And do you know if it's common to get misleading results from Ovarian cysts? Thanks
AnswerThe presence of ovarian cysts will NOT give you a pregnancy test that is misleading. If the test said that you were pregnancy twice, you probably are, indeed, pregnant. A pregnancy test is most accurate seven days after you miss your period. If you have missed your period and you take the pregnancy test a week later, it is quite accurate. The earliest signs of pregnancy are nausea, fatigue, and breast tenderness. If you still are unsure, take two blood tests for pregnancy (Beta HCG) 48 hours apart. If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, it indicates a viable pregnancy. If the value is less than 5 on both tests, you are not pregnant.
