Postpartum Bleeding: What's Normal & When to Worry

Question
i had my first son almost ten weeks ago and ever since i had him i haven't stopped bleeding. is this normal? am i losing to much blood? whats happening and when should it stop by?

Thanks
Tiffany

Answer
Usually bleeding stops by 6-8 weeks post partum. If you still have heavy vaginal bleeding more than 10 weeks after your delivery, you may have some retained placental tissue in your uterus or your uterus may be "subinvoluted" and has not contracted down. I wold suggest checking with your obstetrician.
