Abdominal Pain in Early Pregnancy: Causes & Concerns
Questionim 7 weeks and my stomack always hurts. this is my second pregnancy. I went ot the doctos and they said i have a bladder infection. I constantly have cramps and constipation. The pains are in my lower and uppper stomack and in my sides. I feel like my stomack is growing to fast for being only 7 weeks, its already getting big, is that normal for a second pregnancy?
AnswerIf you complain of pain in your lower abdomen and sides, it is probably a bladder infection. Did you take a culture of your urine? Have you started antibiotics? If you have a bladder infection, antibiotics will get rid of the pain. At 7 weeks gestation, you can also start to have "round ligament syndrome" which is caused by stretching of the round ligaments. The round ligaments are the ligaments that anchor your uterus to the sidewalls of your abdomen. The pain is usually in the groin and is worse when getting out of a chair or bed, or when suddenly turning when someone calls to you while you are walking. Tylenol and a heating pad or warm shower will usually help this type of pain. If you think that you appear larger than normal, get a sonogram to see if you are carrying twins or if the baby is further along than you believe.
