Late Period After Tubal Ligation: Possible Pregnancy or Other Causes?

I am a 27 yr old mother of 4. I had my last child in 2003 and one day after had my tubes tied. My last period started July 12 but it was three days late. It turned out to be a regulare period lasting about 4-5 days. I was a little worried because before I got my tubes tied I was never late unless I was pregnant. As of today, August 20 I have not had another period. Do you think I could be pregnant and if not why would my period be late? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your tubes were ligated correctly, there is less than 1% chance of pregnancy. You may have irregular periods or late periods due to some hormonal imbalance from time to time. If you have any doubts, take a pregnancy test and you will know for sure. A pregnancy test is accurate if it is taken one week after you miss your period.
