Vaginal Lump After Childbirth: Possible Sebaceous Cyst?
Questioni had a baby about 4 months ago...a month or so after giving birth..i notice i had a small lump on the left side of my vagina. it is under the skin and rolls around freely. i did a little research and found some info on sebaceous cysts...the lump does not hurt to touch...it is just there and when touch rolls around. does this sound like it could be a sebaceous cyst? how are they treated...some things i read said nothing is done about them. do the go away typically? i have been putting off going to the dr. after being poked and proded so much with having the baby...i just haven't been able to get myself back to the dr. - i don't like needles! and i would think that they would want to poke it to see what its all about. any insight you can give would be helpful.
also...is it normal to still feel sore or irritated from sutures? 4 months later? i am still having problems with intercourse. it is just very sensitive right on the inside edges where my sutures were.
thanks a bunch!
AnswerIf it is, indeed, a sebaceous cyst, it can easily be aspirated with a small needle and syringe. They will use local anesthesia and it will not hurt you. It may be an inclusion cyst or some fibrotic material that develped during the repair. If it is very small and does not hurt you, you need not do anything about it. Sometimes, it takes quite awhile for the irritation due to the sutures to soften and stop feeling sore. If you have any doubts, or if you are uncomfortable in any way, have your doctor check it out and discuss alternatives of treatment with the doctor.
